Right to Choose: ADHD/ASD Guidance for Children
This page outlines the specific pathway for parents seeking ADHD or ASD assessments for their children through the Right to Choose.
Using Your Right to Choose (Children)
To opt for a provider under Right to Choose, the first step is to talk to your GP
[https://www.ndkentandmedway.co.uk/right-choose].
Parent Requesting the Right to Choose Pathway: This pathway applies to both ADHD and ASD assessments for children.
- Go to the ADHD UK website: The ADHD UK website.
- Research providers: Each company has different criteria and forms. It's important to know that some companies do not offer medication titration. If medication is something you are seeking for your child, be sure to choose a provider that includes this service. All RTC providers accredited by NHS Kent and Medway will prescribe the necessary treatment, and if they can prescribe, they should do so until your child's dose is stable]. After that, the provider sends a Shared Care Agreement (SCA) to your GP to consider taking over regular prescribing.
- Complete forms: Once you have chosen a company, visit their website to follow and complete any required questionnaires or forms.
- Return paperwork: Return all completed paperwork to your surgery's secretarial team. Please note that due to the volume of referrals, it can take up to 6 weeks for our medical secretaries to process these.
- GP Appointment: If you have not already seen a GP regarding this, you will need to make an appointment prior to any referral being made.
Important Notes for Children:
School Forms: For children, there may be additional forms for the school to complete as part of the assessment process.
